Baruntse Expedition - 7000 m Peak Climbing in Nepal

Baruntse Expedition is an exciting adventure for climbers. It is a climb to the summit of a 7000-meter peak in a remote region of Nepal. It offers a tremendously rewarding climb among the highest peaks on the planet. Baruntse Peak, at 7129 meters, is located just south of the semi-circle of great mountains, which comprises Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Makalu on the other side. The climbing to Baruntse Peak approaches the base camp through the Hinku Valley, Mera La, and Makalu Barun. These valleys are the most pristine wilderness remote regions in Nepal. Although exciting and challenging, this climbing Expedition is considered one of the easier climbs of a 7000+ m peak. Importantly, it boasts a high success rate of scaling the summit and returning safely. Everything will make your ascent challenging and inspiring from base camp to the western col with its substantial glacial plateau.

Although its altitude is lower than neighboring mountains, you will be in the very heart of the mighty Himalayan peaks. The famous Lhotse south face is in front of you, far from the stunning Makalu west pillar. Taking part in Baruntse climbing involves using many of the skills needed to climb any 8000-meter peak. It offers the ideal training for peak climbs before embarking on 8000-meter expeditions in the Himalayas. Furthermore, the steep sections of ice at 50 degrees and a prominent ice cliff at about 7000 meters make the South-East Ridge of Baruntse demand respect and great effort to succeed in the final push to the summit.

Climbing Route, Base Camp with Safety Backup

This Baruntse Expedition itinerary has been carefully designed to give all expedition members proper acclimatization. Furthermore, sufficient stamina and skill are required to cope with the climbs to the summit push. We also organize a special refreshment climbing training course at base camp. Where all the expedition members can practice and upgrade their skills to ensure a safe and rewarding climb. We set up our base camp at 5300 meters, where our expedition cooks prepare all the necessary substantial meals. Our experienced climbing guides set up higher camps at 6400 and 6800 meters. We fix ropes to make the summit push safe and secure. We have medically trained guides with a comprehensive medical kit, an Oxygen cylinder, a Portable Altitude Chamber, a satellite phone, and a walkie-talkie as a safety backup throughout the Expedition.
